Step 4: Drying and Dehumidification
Our Water Damage Restoration Process

While minimal water damage (such as that caused by a small leak or a burst pipe that is taken care of quickly) may not require the help of a water damage restoration service, a full-on flood will be drastic enough to where a professional will be required to remove the water as soon as possible.

However, while a prompt removal of flood water will eliminate the source, it does not completely stop further damage from occurring. In a serious flood or other water-related disaster, water will almost certainly have made its way into the pores of surfaces around your home or business by the time most of it has been pumped out.

Once the excess water has been removed, the floors and walls may appear dry, but a quick inspection will reveal they are wet to the touch. Nearly all building materials, like wood, drywall, and flooring materials, are porous and therefore retain water. This retained water can cause the materials to break down, warp, or cause mold damage.

SERVPRO of West Littleton / Sheridan has been restoring water-damaged residential and commercial properties for over thirty years. Our highly trained team have the skills and knowledge needed to restore flooded areas and waterlogged belongings, and we use state-of-the-art equipment to return your home or business to its prior condition.

After water removal, the next step in our restoration process is drying and dehumidification.

Drying / Dehumidification

Our Professionals will use room measurements, temperature, and relative humidity to determine the optimal number of air movers and dehumidifiers to dry your home or business. We’ll carefully monitor the progress using moisture meters until the materials return to acceptable drying goals.

  • Use Dehumidification Equipment
  • Use Monitoring Equipment to Track Progress

Monitor Floor and Walls

We check the moisture levels to monitor the drying process.

  • Monitor Floors
  • Monitor Walls

Drying Equipment

  • Industrial-grade dehumidifiers help prevent secondary water damage like swelling and warping of floors, walls, and furniture.
  • High-speed air movers create airflow across walls, carpets, pads, and furniture, which accelerates the evaporation of moisture.
