Step 3: Water Removal / Water Extraction

In any situation involving massive amounts of water, such as a residential or commercial flood, the most important thing after safety is taking steps to remove the water as soon as possible. With each passing minute, flood water seeps deeper and deeper into the pores of wood flooring, carpet, upholstery, and walls, and it does immediate damage to electronics and other sensitive materials.

It only takes a few inches of water to cause irreparable damage to your home or business. On top of that, mold and bacteria growth can begin in a matter of hours, putting you and your family's health at risk. Even worse, gray or black water will likely already contain harmful bacteria, and must be dealt with particularly quickly.

The process to remove water starts as soon as you call the emergency contact team at SERVPRO of West Littleton / Sheridan, who will obtain the necessary information to move on to the inspection phase. It is during this phase that we inspect the damages and assess how to approach removing the water.

After the inspection and damage assessment step, the water extraction process begins. This step removes the majority of the water. We use state of the art equipment, including powerful pumps and truck-mounted vacuum units, to quickly remove hundreds or thousands of gallons of water from your property.

Emergency Water Removal

Our highly trained technicians will begin the water removal process almost immediately. Depending on the amount of water, we may use powerful submersible pumps in addition to industrial strength, wet/dry vacuums. Removing most of the water helps reduce drying time and helps prevent secondary water damage and mold and bacterial growth.
